Angolan cuisine

Talking about Angolan cuisine is also talking about African cuisine. Here, as in other regions of the world, the products available were a determining factor in local culinary practices. Cultivated in Africa since ancient times.

The most used ingredients are cereals, vegetables and tubers cultivated in the country for centuries, including: sorghum, millet and corn, as well as cowpeas, lentils, yams, manioc and dinhungo (lemon squash) and okra. Among the fruits, the highlights are Watermelon, Tamarindo, fruit of Baobab, Gajaja, Guava, Sapé Sapé, Mukua, Banana and Pomegranate. Palm oil is an important delicacy for the preparation of various recipes.

The most popular dish in Angola is funge, a cooked pasta made from maize or manioc flour (this is called funge de bombó). It can accompany meat or fish dishes.

Other traditional dishes are Moamba, we have chicken moamba and Moamba de Gingona, Calulu de Peixe, Calulu de Carne Seca, Palma beans (palm oil), Cassava, Mufete, Calulu, among others......
